With close to 100 leaded glass windows, the staff has been flexible in working with our timelines and budget. They have also been open to educational efforts, inviting our staff to tour their shop and partner on outreach projects. In short, we could not be more impressed or appreciative of the finished product and their willingness to share expertise with our staff and the public. From beginning to end, Glass Heritage impressed us with their professionalism, knowledge, and dedication to restoring antique windows. We are extremely fortunate to have a local company with their expertise, as well as a commitment to the criteria set by the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for Historical Preservation. - Stacy Klingler Zion Lutheran Church The professional office staff and your window craftsman did outstanding work. They all were very helpful in explaining the entire window project in an easy to understand way. The flexibility you gave us during the project work allowed our church to hold our worship services and other functions that were needed. Our congregation voters assembly was impressed with the great job your company did on our new glass protective coverings. Zion would certainly consider Glass Heritage for any addition work that may be needed on our historic windows in the furture. - Lysle Whitmer - Zion Lutheran Church Head Trustee Saint Paul Lutheran Church We got bids from regional restoration companies to refurbish our 1952 (original) steeple. It was apparent to us that Glass Heritage was the company we wished to partner with because of their knowledge of the process, the quality of materials and their work plan. The new windows and steeple look fantastic and we would without reservation, recommend Glass Heritage to other churches and businesses. - Todd R. Byerly - Operations Director First Baptist Church We are pleased to be able to offer a letter of reference on behalf of Glass Hertiage of Davenport, Iowa. We are a small church in a rural community in southwest Wisconsin. Our stained glass windows were covered by storm windows which over time became compromised and one failed. While trying to determine what to do about the storm windows, we realized that our stained glass windows needed attention. We contacted a handful of contractors and found Glass Heritage of Davenport to be by far the most responsive. An on-site inspection helped us understand the value and condition of our windows. The more we learned, the more we realized we needed to do something to preserve a valuable aspect of our building and upgrade the protective coverings appropriately. We were given an easy to understand, yet thorough estimate in a timely fashion by Glass Heritage. We chose Glass Heritage to do the restoration and we have never regretted it in any way. Communication was always timely and our questions were answered promptly and any concerns addressed immediately. The work was done professionally and every effort was made to cause the least disruption possible. Initially, there was concern about the cost of the restoration project. However, as the project progressed, the entire congregation came to realize the painstaking amount of time and effort required to do the work and the value we were receiving. We are very pleased with the work done by Glass Heritage and would highly recommend Adrian and his team for any job they would accept. We have received many compliments from members of the community who have appreciated the restoration of the stained glass looking from the outside in. It's even better for us who look from the inside out! - Ron Fruit - Deacon Wesley United Methodist Church After a lengthy search we selected Glass Heritage to restore eight windows and replace the plexiglass protective coverings on these windows and a very large stained glass window in our sanctuary. This work was completed during the summer of 2015. The initial project was completed in a very high quality manner. The craftsmen were courteous, highly skilled and very professional during the entire project. The project was completed on schedule and the materials used were of excellent quality. The venting system used on the protective covering frame was superior to all other systems we have seen. Since this initial project, Wesley Church has contracted four additional projects to date with Glass Heritage. The Trustees at Wesley Church cannot say enough good comments about Glass Heritage. Without any reservations, we soundly endorse Glass Heritage and highly recommend them for any stained glass restoration and / or new commission glass window projects you would be considering. - Greg Wall - Chairman of Trustees Saint John's United Methodist Church We thought that new vivid-colored glass had been used, but it was actually our original glass that had been thoroughly cleaned and set into new lead, displaying brilliant colors not seen in our lifetime! Glass Heritage truly works by The Golden Rule (they treat you as they would want to be treated) and we couldn't be happier. - Mark Tisinger - Restoration Project Manager St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church I cannot convey to you how much of a difference the work made in the clarity and vibrancy of the colors in each of the stained glass windows. Our members were very happy with the work and difference our restoration project made for our worship space and other areas where we have stained glass windows. I highly recommend Glass Heritage for your stained glass restoration and protective covering projects. - Rev. Travis M. Fisher-King St. Catherine Church Exterior flashing on the frames of the church's windows concealed a number of problems. I appreciated Adrian English's expertise and clearly communicating what needed to be done to protect our windows every step of the way. I highly recommend Glass Heritage. - Father John Thieryoung The George M. Curtis Mansion Through the initial meetings, we gained confidence in entrusting our irreplaceable 130 year old windows to your care. In our regular visits to your shop, it was great to see the artists' pride and ownership taken in their work. They were always happy to spend time explaining the full restoration process as it occured. The windows are simply beautiful and we recommend your world-class talent and service to any organi...

Contractor and licensing FAQs
How do I verify a contractor is licensed?
Start by asking the contractor directly for their license number and the issuing authority. Licensing is trade-specific: plumbers and HVAC mechanics are typically licensed through your state's plumbing and mechanical systems licensing board; electrical contractors are licensed through your state's electrical licensing authority; general construction contractors register with your state licensing board. You can look up license status online through your state's professional licensing bureau online or through your state's contractor registration database. Before any work begins, also ask for a current certificate of general liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage. Confirm the coverage limits are adequate for your project—at minimum $1 million in general liability. EdgeLocal profiles include ratings and direct contact info, but license verification must be confirmed directly with the contractor and the relevant state agency.
Should I get multiple quotes from contractors?
Yes—always get at least two or three quotes before hiring any contractor for significant work. Multiple quotes let you compare price, scope, materials, and timeline, and help you spot outliers: a quote significantly lower than others may indicate missing scope or cut corners, while a much higher quote may not be justified. When collecting quotes, give each contractor a clear description of the project so you can make accurate comparisons. Ask each to break out labor and materials separately when possible, and confirm what's included: demolition, permits, materials, cleanup, and warranty. Ask for estimated start dates and project duration as well. Use EdgeLocal to quickly find several rated contractors in your area so you can start the quote process without extensive additional research.
