Questions about your profile

  • Why should I claim my profile?

Claiming your EdgeLocal profile lets you control how your business appears to homeowners searching your trade and zip code. Once claimed, you can update your business name, address, phone number, website, and service descriptions to be accurate and compelling. Unclaimed profiles show only the information available from public sources, which may be incomplete or outdated. A claimed profile displays a "Claimed" badge that signals to homeowners that your business is active. You can also specify your primary and secondary service trades to improve how your listing appears in relevant searches. Claiming is completely free. It takes about five minutes: log in or create a free account, find your listing in the directory, click "Claim this profile," and complete verification. After claiming, you can update your info at any time from your dashboard.

  • What does the $25/month upgrade include?

The EdgeLocal upgrade plan gives you access to two tools for understanding and improving your local visibility. The first is keyword rankings: you choose up to five keywords (like "roofer Dallas" or "HVAC contractor Phoenix"), and EdgeLocal tracks where you appear in local Google Maps search results across a 7×7 mile grid around your business. Rankings are updated weekly so you can monitor progress over time. The second tool is the influence grid—a visual 15×15 map showing your local search visibility across 225 geographic points in your service area. This lets you see which neighborhoods you're strong in and where competitors may be outranking you. Together, these tools function as a local SEO dashboard tailored to your trade and location. The $25/month plan is month-to-month with no long-term commitment.

  • How do I claim my profile?

To claim your EdgeLocal profile, log in or create a free account, then search the directory for your business. When you find your listing, click the "Claim this profile" button on the contractor profile page and follow the verification steps. Claiming typically involves confirming your business identity by verifying basic business information that matches the listing. Once claimed, your profile displays a "Claimed" badge and you can update all your information from the dashboard—including your phone number, website, service trades, and business description. The process takes about five minutes. If your business isn't in the directory yet, you can add a new profile directly from your account dashboard at no cost.

  • I don't see my business in the directory. Can I add it?

Yes. If your business isn't listed in EdgeLocal, you can add it by creating a free account and submitting your profile from the dashboard. The directory primarily includes state-registered businesses and Google Maps-verified contractors, so newer businesses, sole proprietors, or companies operating without formal business registration may not be in the initial dataset. After adding your profile, fill in your trade, service area, contact info, and a brief business description. Your listing will be visible to homeowners searching your trade and zip code after submission. Adding your profile is free. Once listed, you can optionally upgrade to the paid plan to access keyword rankings and the local influence grid.

  • What is the 15×15 influence grid?

The 15×15 influence grid is a geographic ranking map showing where your business appears in local Google Maps search results across your service area. The grid is centered on your business location and spans approximately 7 miles by 7 miles, divided into 225 individual grid points spaced 0.5 miles apart. For each point, EdgeLocal checks whether your business appears in the top 20 Google Maps results when someone searches for your keyword from that location. Points where you rank in the top 3 are highlighted green; mid-range positions show in yellow; grid points where you don't appear show in red. This visual map shows you clearly where you're winning local search and where competitors may be outranking you. The grid updates weekly with fresh ranking data for each keyword you track, letting you see whether your local visibility is improving over time.
